Emily Charry Tissier is a biologist with more than 20 years of experience studying coastal and arctic ecosystems. She is the co-founder and CEO of Whale Seeker, a Techstars Montréal AI company and an Ocean Solutions’ Accelerator company, that automates whale detection from imagery using AI. Whale Seeker's approach helps clients including governments, private industry, and NGOs scale whale detection using ethical AI solutions. As the first Certified B Corp company using AI in service of wildlife, Whale Seeker is committed to ethical development and deployment of AI. Emily's passion for protecting our planet's wildlife has led her to become a thought leader in the intersection of AI and conservation, recognized as one of the top 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics. Whale Seeker's Mobius tool was also recognized by The International Research Institute on AI under the auspices of UNESCO (IRCAI) as one of the top 10 AI solutions in the world for achieving SDG goals. Emily has presented Whale Seeker's work at various forums, including the United Nations Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs. Her contributions to the field are helping to shape the future of AI in wildlife conservation.
